ww2dbaseThe MB.210 project was privately funded; initially the design was of a seaplane, but because the French Navy showed little interest, the design was altered to include both fixed and retractable gears for land use. The first MB.210 took flight in Nov 1934, and the first MB.211 in Aug 1935; the re-designation was due to the usage of a different engine. Although initial flights were disappointing, eventual performance improvements on the MB.210 design convinced the French military to place orders. Spanish and Romanian military purchased a quantity, as well. They entered service in Nov 1936. They saw very little action by the time France surrendered. Overall, 257 were built by various manufacturers; most of them served as converted transports.
