ww2dbaseThe area of Yongsan, now enveloped by the city of Seoul (Japanese name during the occupation period: Keijo) but had previously been undeveloped land, had been long been associated with military use through Korean history. Early in the 1910-1945 Japanese occupation of Korea, the Japanese Army began further developing the base, which ultimately would become a headquarters of troops stationed in the region. After WW2, the United States Army took over control of the base and operated it under the name Yongsan Garrison. Today, many Japanese-built structures are still standing, including the headquarters building of the US Eighth Army.

Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
