STURZKAMPFFLUGZEUG:
(DIVE BOMBER)
As the war continued, later models of the Junkers Ju 87 replaced the light 7.92mm machine guns, for 2 x 20mm cannons in the wings w/500 rounds per gun.
The rear gunner was now armed w/1 x MG81Z (twin mounted) 7.92mm machine gun with 1,000 rounds per gun. The Stuka was still called upon to deliver pin point dive bombing to enemy targets. Its been estimated that German industry produced 10,000,000,000
that's ten billion rounds of 7.92mm ammo! this is an estimate as production records were later destroyed or were lost...
Crews were armed with semi-automatic pistols of German manufacture, or foreign made weapons captured from the occupied countries, even revolvers were issued.
