This party was waiting for the arrival of Admiral Ernest King, General George Marshall, General Henry Arnold, and General Dwight Eisenhower who were being ferried over from England for an inspection.
Present are:
- Rear Admiral Alan G. Kirk, US Navy (2nd from left in dark hat), commander of all US Navy forces involved in the Normandy landings;
- Rear Admiral John L. Hall, Jr., US Navy (center, in helmet facing camera), commander of all US Navy forces in the Omaha Beach sector;
- Lieutenant General Omar Bradley, US Army (far right), overall Allied commander of the Normandy landings.
Note the beach marker, the barrage balloon, and the Navy’s vertical arrangement of the stars on Adm Hall’s helmet.
