The Modern Day Location map mistakenly identifies a building about 2 km southwest of this photographed area (south of the grain elevator). The industrial building seen here in 4 ruined segments is near the street labeled "ul. Konservnaya-1-ya" (near where the curved Don-Volga rail line was). Zoom in: it is numbered "5".

White building in the right foreground is the upper part of the grain elevator in southern Stalingrad. An inclined conveyor belt had led from the elevator down to the river; some of it can be seen here.
