Captain Toshihira Inoguchi was given command of the battleship Musashi in Aug 1944. During the Battle of Sibuyan Sea, Musashi was attacked by overwhelming American air power and sank. Inoguchi went down with the ship.
Inoguchi's brother, Captain Rikihei Inoguchi, was a commander of kamikaze forces based in the Philippines. His son, Lieutenant (jg) Satoshi Inoguchi, sacrificed himself in a kamikaze attack ten days after the death of his father.
