ww2dbaseHarry Kenneth Dimoline was born in Britain in 1903. In 1921, he was made a second lieutenant in the artillery of the Territorial Army. In 1938, he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire. He was a colonel by the time the European War began in 1939. In 1942, he was promoted to the war time rank of brigadier and was given command of the Royal Artillery 4th Indian Division and saw action in North Africa and Italy. In the same year, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Order. In 1943, he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In 1944, he successively served as the acting commanding officer of the Indian 4th Division in Italy, commanding officer of the Royal Artillery 47th (London) Infantry Division, and commanding officer of the Royal Artillery Indian 17th Infantry Division in Burma. Near the end of the war, he was reverted to the rank of colonel. In 1952, he was awarded the Colonial Police Medal for his association with the Auxiliary Police of the Federation of Malaya during the Malayan Emergency. He passed away in 1972.

19 Oct 1921 Harry Dimoline was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant with the 59th (4th West Lancashire) Medium Brigade, Royal Garrison Artillery, British Territorial Army.
19 Oct 1923 Harry Dimoline was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
1 Jul 1926 Harry Dimoline was promoted to the rank of captain.
29 May 1931 Harry Dimoline was promoted to the rank of major.
5 May 1939 Harry Dimoline was promoted to the rank of colonel.
6 Feb 1944 Harry Dimoline was promoted to the war time rank of major general.
11 Feb 1944 The US II Corps attack toward Monte Cassino, Italy was halted by German troops. Major General Harry Dimoline of Indian 4th Division requested the aerial bombing of the abbey atop Monte Cassino.
11 Apr 1945 Harry Dimoline was reverted to the rank of colonel.
13 Feb 1951 Harry Dimoline was transferred to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers.
6 Sep 1961 Harry Dimoline retired from military service.
15 Nov 1972 Harry Dimoline passed away.
