ww2dbaseJapanese naval officer Yasuno Chikao gained infamy for carrying out the order to execute, by beheading, Australian prisoner of war Sergeant Leonard Siffleet in Aitape, New Guinea in 1943. The order was given by Vice Admiral Michiaki Kamada. Chikao had been variously reported as having died before the end of the war, and as having been captured and sentenced to death by hanging but the sentence was later commuted to 10 years in prison.
