  • Submarine USS Bowfin, patrolling the east coast of the Korean peninsula, torpedoed and sank the 1,900-ton passenger-cargo ship No. 3 Shinto Maru off Wonsan Harbor. ww2dbase [Bowfin | Sea of Japan | DS]

  • Before dawn, submarine USS Tinosa torpedoed and sank the small merchantman Kaisei Maru and later that same day after dark she torpedoed and sank the larger cargo ship Taito Maru near the southern end of the Sea of Japan.
