  • The V Amphibious Corps (VAC) under the command of Major General Holland Smith was formed at Pearl Harbor, US Territory of Hawaii out of the earlier Amphibious Corps, Pacific Fleet (PhibCorpsPacFlt) that had been in existence since Apr 1942.
