ww2dbaseThe Kaufering Concentration Camp, consisted of 11 sites, was located in the Gau of München-Oberbayern in southern Germany. It was a subsidiary camp of the larger Dachau Concentration Camp located to its east, created for the purpose of creating tunnels in nearby mountains as future underground aircraft factories. It was discovered by US troops in late Apr 1945, and very shortly after new media were brought in to record the atrocities, and German civilians in nearby towns were ordered to bury the bodies of the many victims. After the war, some of the sites, such as the camp at Landsberg, became a displaced persons camp, housing primarily Jewish refugees.
