GUARD DUTY: SAY I SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELIEVED 20 MINUTES AGO, WAIT TILL I TALK TO THE SARGE...
I remember guard duty as two hours on and four hours off with three guard shifts. What has our 1942 GI been issued.
Looks like he's still wearing that old M1917A1 Steel Helmet that would be replaced with the new M1 Steel Helmet that offered greater protection.
Its cold in Seattle looks like he's wearing a heavy M1939 overcoat with gloves at port arms he's holding his 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun is it loaded with 00 Buckshot? a M1923 or M1928 cartridge web belt, on his left side looks like a M1A2 Gas Mask, and for a back up he should have a Colt M1911 .45Cal Semi-Automatic Pistol.
GI trousers and high canvas gaiters also known as leggings they were not popular with the troops and uncomfortable when wet. Is he wearing ankle-high field shoes or if he's wearing low quarter (shoes) with those leggings...
