Passing of Iwo Jima Flag Raiser Raymond Jacobs

In Feb 1945, the American invaders at Iwo Jima received great boost in morale after seeing a series of two flag raisings atop Mount Suribachi, the highest point of the Japanese island garrison. Raymond Jacobs, who was believed to be the last surviving member of the group that raised the first flag, passed away on 29 Jan 2008 at the age of 82.
