ww2dbaseGeneral Carlo Geloso commanded Italian forces in Albania in 1939, and in the following year he was named the commanding officer of Italian 11th Army which he led in the invasion of Greece. Between 1941 and 1943, he commanded occupation forces in Greece. After Italy signed the armistice with the Allies, he was captured by the Germans and became a prisoner of war until the end of the European War. He was turned over to the Soviets at the end of the war, and was released in 1946.
