ww2dbaseThe site of Bluie West Four, located at Marrack Point in western Greenland, was discovered by chance in Jun 1942 by US Army Air Forces Lieutenant Teague when Teague's B-17 aircraft ran out of fuel and was forced to land on the site's flat rocky terrain. It was centrally located between the existing bases of Bluie West One and Bluie West Eight, making it a good location for additional radio and weather equipment. The first landing on the airstrip took place in Oct 1942. The airstrip did not play a major role in the transit of aircraft between North America and Europe. After the war in 1945, Bluie West Four was abandoned. Although the Danish government chose not to operate the field, the airstrip remained on air navigation charts for many years in case of emergencies. Most of the abandoned equipment were taken by looters or damaged by vandals. The airfield was also known as "Teague Field", after the pilot who accidentally found the site.

5 Jun 1942 Lieutenant Teague, flying a B-17 aircraft, ran out of fuel and was forced to make a landing on a flat stretch of rocky terrain on the west coast of Greenland. It was soon determined that the site could be used as an airstrip.
4 Oct 1942 A US Navy PBY-5A aircraft became the first aircraft to land at Bluie West Four in western Greenland.
