Machinist Donald Runyon was a pilot with Fighting Squadron Six (VF-6), based aboard USS Enterprise (CV-6), Runyon was credited with shooting down four Japanese planes during the Guadalcanal-Tulagi landings of 7-8 August 1943 and another four during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons on 24 August 1942.
