This picture is signed by Richard O'Kane who served as Dudley "Mush" Morton's Executive Officer on the Wahoo for a time. After that, O'Kane became Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Tang, which was in the process of completing the most successful war patrol up to that point until the malfunction of her last torpedo caused it to circle around and hit the Tang, sinking her and taking down all but a handful of her crew. O'Kane survied the sinking and spent the rest of the war as a Japanese POW.
