Thank you very much for your note. As of Mar 1944, I think Stilwell was holding these two ranks:
* Lieutenant General in the Army of the United States (as of Feb 1942)
* Major General in the Regular Army (as of Sep 1943)
I suppose since in Mar 1944, it is still in war time, so perhaps the usage of his war time rank, rather than his permanent rank, is more fitting. I will update the caption based on that. I will definitely welcome any additional wisdom you may have on this matter.

Hi Mr. Chen -
The caption on this photo for 18 Mar 1944 identifies Stillwell as a major general. He had been a Lt. Gen. since Feb 1942.
