My brother Denver, was stationed at Pearl Harbor on board the USS Monaghan, on December 7th, 1941. He was a Gunners Mate, and was ordered to fire at the incoming planes, when the USS Monahan was ordered to put out to sea. He has recounted his experiences of the day, to include the encounter with the *** mini-sub, and his being wounded by gun fire from the overhead planes. His ship was one of the first to steam out of the harbor.
