Anonymous' comment above is half-correct: It IS a B-25J - however the black panther image on the nose of this aircraft was the emblem of the 822nd Bomb Squadron, 38th Bomb Group (Medium), 5th USAAF. The 38th BG (Sun Setters) and the 345th BG (Air Apaches), both 5th USAAF units, operated exclusively with the B-25 Mitchell medium bomber during the Pacific air war, often in support of one another, on the same missions.

Does any one have any information on Gen. Kinneys' B-25 "commerce wreckers"? If memory serves me-they were equipped with 8-.50 cal. Brownings and 2-20mm cannons in the nose. One pass was usually enough to end an engagement. Thanks, Mike.
