This is Doolittle Crew #11 (11th to fly off Hornet). L to R they are: Lt Frank A Kappeler (Navigator), Capt Charles R Greening (Pilot), SSgt William L Birch (Bombardier), Lt Kenneth E Reddy (Co-Pilot), Sgt Melvin J Gardner (Engineer/Gunner). All survived the mission after parachuting into China. SSgt Gardner was killed in action two months later in China and Lt Reddy was killed in an aviation accident in Arkansas later in 1942; the other three survived the war.
