File photos shows a Mk.III w/markings assigned to
Royal Armoured Corps Gunnery School, Lulworth Camp, Dorset UK 1944.
Armored car is (AEC) Associated Equipment Company
Mk III turret is taken from Infantry Tank Mk III
Developed in 1941 with 629 vehicles built between
1942 - 1943 it was a 4 x 4 armored car w/a crew of four. The Mk.I saw service in North Africa and
the Mk.II and Mk.III in Europe.
Armed w/1 x 40mm main gun, w/58 rounds, 1 x 7.92
mm machine gun w/2000 rounds and 1 x .303 Bren Lt.
machine gun w/600 rounds. AEC was a truck and bus manufacture before the war. After WWII survivors
continued to serve with the British Army and Indian Army and were later phased out in the 1970s the Lebanese Army used them as late as 1979.
