From left to right: Lieutenant George Elsey, Captain James Vardaman, and ship's clerk Edwin L. Hoying stand on the deck of the USS Augusta, the ship that is carrying President Harry S. Truman back to the United States after attending the Potsdam Conference in Germany. Lieutenant Elsey and Mr. Hoying are members of the map room staff, and Captain Vardaman is Truman's Naval Aide. From the Album, Number 2: "President Truman's Trip to Potsdam."
