The official USMC caption for this photo dates the briefing, as well as the raid, as Aug 10, 1945 but this is incorrect. The actual mission logs for both the bomber squadron (VMB-611) and the fighter squadron (VMF-115) say the raid occurred on Aug 9, 1945
