Famous WW2 Quote
"With Germany arming at breakneck speed, England lost in a pacifist dream, France corrupt and torn by dissension, America remote and indifferent... do you not tremble for your children?"Winston Churchill, 1935

ACHTUNG! DRESS RIGHT, DRESS
Looks like the crews are standing by for another flight-line inspection. Like military forces the world over, its hurry up and wait. Aircraft are Fw 200 C-3/U2 version of the Condor.
Unit is I Gruppe Kampfgeschwader 40 this Gruppe operated over the Atlantic against Allied convoys along with U-boat Groups.
UNIFORM OF THE DAY:
Like most bomber crews, pilots were officers with
NCO's making up the rest of the crew. Photograph
shows the crews have been issued the beige one piece K So/34 summer flying suit, the Luftwaffe issued ten different variations of this flying suit, other issue are boots, gloves with side cap, or the "Fliegermuetze".
Officers wore the side cap and peaked cap during the war, the stiffener was removed to give the peaked cap a soft crusher look. Crews were armed with semi-automatic pistols.
HURRY UP AND WAIT:
A term used to describe waiting for inspections or troop movements. I did my share of hurry up and wait during my four years in the US Army...
1966 to 1970
