The Nevada’s brief sortie is coming to an end in this photo as fires burn on her foredeck and her bow is being set against the bank at Hospital Point for beaching. Note the dredge line just beyond the Avocet that blocked half the channel. The smoke at left is from the destroyers Cassin and Downes in Drydock #1. The Gantry Crane seen here spans the drydocks.
