Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."Winston Churchill

Cruiser Div. 5 was composed of the Chester, Salt Lake City
and the Pensacola. I was a radioman with the Admiral
on the Chester. I watched the firing from Mt. Suribachi,
hitting marine gun positions and landings.
The Pensacola was hit and had to retreat. The Chester
had to leave, the day after D-Day, for repairs because she
was rammed by an American ship the day before.
