Thank you for making us take a closer look at this photo, but we did not find what you thought we were going to find. The Japanese writing in the upper left identifies this not as the Kumano but as the Suzuya and dates the image as 8 Feb 1943. At that time, Suzuya was undergoing trials in Toyama Bay. The links and caption for this image have all been updated accordingly. Thank you again for bringing this up.
