Nashville’s war diaries from this period are replete with complaints about how ill-suited this airplane was as compared to its predecessor, the OS2U Kingfisher. Criticisms centered around the plane being too large to effectively hoist out of the hangar while underway, its short loiter time over targets due to a small fuel capacity and high fuel consumption rate, the inability to hoist out a second airplane until the previous one had been launched, and others.
