The boat’s sponsor (fourth from right) was Mrs. Elizabeth Hogan, wife of Dr. James J. Hogan, a prominent Vallejo physician and civic leader (third from left). The matron of honor (center) was Mrs. Lucie Friedell, wife of Mare Island Commandant Rear Admiral Wilhelm Friedell (second from right), himself a former submariner.
