In the third row, at the right end is Corporal Lester Tannenbaum (later Lester Tanner), a Jewish soldier who, in 1945, was at Stalag IX-A at Ziegenhain, Germany when senior NCO Roddie Edmonds defied the German captors by refusing to identify the Jewish soldiers.
