Graf Zeppelin was 776 feet long. Hangars No. 1, 2, and 3 appear across the field just beyond the black runway. Hangars No. 4 and 5 have not been built yet. The long, dark structure straight off Graf Zeppelin’s nose is the grandstand left over from the 1928 National Air Races. The tree-lined road to the left is Redondo Blvd (now Aviation Blvd) and San Antonio St (now Century Blvd) runs across the bottom of the photo. This area of Mines Field is now part of the air freight complex at the Los Angeles International Airport.
