our ship was at anguar which was just about 15 miles from peleliu. we got to patrol this island peleliu& got hit at nite by *** swimmers putting bomb on strn doing ext damage no one hurt . but ship

My wife's grandfather Cecil Cone is probably in the picture on LCI(G)-396. His ship hit a mine a in January 45 and he was almost killed. The entire bow was blown off, but the ship did not sink.

My Dad was 1st MARDIV, landing here,he had 45 acp and flamethrower, Platoon Sgt. Lost Entire platoon when mortar hit LCT,he was older 23, and knew NOT to make friends.. Hated *** till the end,he was a kind man and father,so strong and worldly,I miss him so,he could not live with his memories. Love you Dad,I forgive you..Your son Craig

My father was at Peleliu, Palau on 15 Sep 1944. He was on either a LCI (L) 79 or a LCI (G) 79. I am doing our genealogy and was so surprised to find this picture. Just think, my dad could have been on one of those ships in the picture. Thank you.
