Chuck Yeager and his P-51D-15 NA Glamorous Glennis III Yeager was credited with 12.5 kills.
Did you know the aircraft was not charged to the pilot, but to the crew chief. The ground crew was responsible for the operation of the plane. Some crew chief's would yell out to the pilot "Don't forget this is my airplane, so bring it back" The Government just let's you fly it. That gets a fighter pilots ego!
