YP-61 s/n 41-18877 went on to serve with the 481st night fighting operational training group based in Florida. The 481st trained crews, and was assigned to the air defense of Florida. Did you know that one P-61 cost the American taxpayer $649,584 US Dollars that was a lot of money back in the day.

YP-61 s/n 41-18877 went on to serve with the 481st night fighting operational training group based in Florida. The 481st trained crews, and was assigned to the air defense of Florida. Did you know that one P-61 cost the American taxpayer $649,584 US Dollars that was a lot of money back in the day.

In addition to the two XP-61 Prototypes,
thirteen XP-61's were ordered and built.
These aircraft were used for testing, and
delivered during August and September 1943.
