FACE OF THE ENEMY: IT WAS A COLD AND WINDY DAY

Our captured Junior NCO looks like he's in shock but alive. He's been issued the late war pattern M43 field tunic without pleats on the pockets.
As the war progressed with shortages of materials
uniforms were of inferior quality.
He's also been issued the M40 double breasted greatcoat with French cuffs, same as the soldier in the back ground. I what's Otto thinking? The war is over for me. der Krieg ist fur mich zu Ende
