TANKS "R" US:

The Detroit Tank Plant was built in six months, it was five city blocks long and two city blocks wide. The factory was built on 113 acres of farm land the first M3 was built
in April 1941 before the plant was even finished. During WWII the factory built over 20,000 tanks.
The sponson on the tanks right mounted a 75mm gun, but it had limited traverse, the turret mounted a 37mm gun and the smaller turret on top, mounted a .30 caliber machine gun and another .30 caliber machine gun in the upper hull.
The turret casting weighed 4,000lbs. alone thats before all the internal fittings are installed.

The M3 weighted 23 tons, the tracks for each
side were 40 feet in length. The M3 cost the
US taxpayer $33,000 each, the plant built 10
a-day.
