WW2-era Japanese Soldiers Found in Jungle

27 May 2005

Two Japanese men, both in their 80s, were reportedly found in the southern jungles of Filipino island Mindanao. They carried equipment that suggested they were once soldiers. "At this stage we are not saying either way whether or not these two men are in fact former soldiers. We may be in a better position later today," said Japan's consul general in Manila Akio Egawa.
