Pearl Harbor sailor Walter Foley's remains identified
Seaman 1st Class Walter C. Foley was aboard USS Oklahoma when the ship was struck by Japanese aircraft at Pearl Harbor, US Territory of Hawaii, on 7 Dec 1941. The 18-year-old was among the 429 killed aboard the ship during the attack. The ship was refloated during the war, and the remains of those killed were interred at the nearby National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. In 2015, remains of USS Oklahoma personnel began to be disinterred for DNA analysis, and his remains were identified in Jan 2018. His family was notified in Mar 2018.
