Wreck of Kaga Found

18 Oct 2019

The team sponsored by the late Paul Allen, of Microsoft fame, discovered yet another WW2 wreck. On 18 Oct 2019, it was announced that its research ship R/V Petrel had found and identified the wreck of Japanese carrier Kaga, which was lost on 4 Jun 1942 during the Battle of Midway in the Pacific Ocean, on the ocean bed 5,400 meters below the ocean surface. The wreck is said to be missing much of her flight deck, and animals may have colonized her pipework and shattered metal plates.

It was also announced that in the coming week, the team is to investigate another possible wreck site.
