was there another Iowa class battleship being built that was abandoned in the slips? is it still there?

Bertram,

The Illinois was laid down, but broken up on the slipways.

The work on Kentucky actually continued past the end of the war, and was eventually launched in 1950. She was never officially commissioned though. Eventually her parts were used to repair other ships before being broken up.
