Eyewitness to the First Atomic Blast Remembers
"I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds", said Robert Oppenheimer, the leading scientist of the Manhattan Project, upon the successful conclusion of developing the destructive atomic bombs that devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In 2005, Daniel Yearout, a private in the US Army at New Mexico in 1945, remebers the awesome blast during Operation Trinity. "I was glad I'd seen it," he says. "But I hope I don't see another one."
