ww2dbaseYu Hanmou was the commanding officer of the 1st Army in 1935. From 1938 to 1944, he was the commander-in-chief of the 12th Army Group, participating in major actions in the Second Sino-Japanese War such as the failed defense of Guangdong in late 1938 and the 1938-1940 Winter Offensive. From 1944 until the end of the war, he was the commanding officer of the 7th War Area.
