ww2dbaseMa Buluan (Wade-Giles Romanization: Ma Pu-luan) was a first cousin of fellow Generals Ma Buqing and Ma Bufang. He was born into a Muslim family in Linxia, Gansu Province, China in 1905. In 1931, he was the commanding officer of a cavalry regiment in the New 9th Division. In 1934, he was named the commanding officer of 1st Cavalry Regiment of the Cavalry Battalion of 100th Division. In 1936, he participated in the successful campaign in Gansu Province that saw the destruction of the Chinese Communist Western Route Army. In 1937, he rose to brigade-level command as he receive command of 1st Cavalry Brigade of 82nd Corps. In 1944, he given command of 82nd Corps' cavalry units. In 1946, he was promoted to the rank of colonel. In 1947, he was given command of 8th Cavalry Brigade and participated in the Heshui Campaign and the Meridian Ridge Campaign during the resumed Chinese Civil War. In Sep 1948, he was promoted to the rank of major general and served as the deputy commanding officer of 82nd Corps. In 1949, he saw action in the Ningxia Campaign, but performed poorly. He passed away in 1969.
