ww2dbaseColonel Masataka Kitagawa was the overall commanding officer of the Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department (Unit 731) of the Japanese Southern Expeditionary Army Group. He was killed in 1943 and was posthumously promoted to the rank of major general.
