ww2dbaseVasilios Sachinis was born into a Greek family in the village of Dhuvjan, Ottoman Empire (now in southern Albania) in 1897. During the inter-war years, he became a successful businessman in the city of Gjirokastër. In 1941, he joined the Northern Epirote Liberation Front (MAVI) resistance movement, rising to a leadership position by the following year. In 1943, he was captured by Albanian communists. He was tortured and executed.
