ww2dbaseErik Julius Christian Scavenius was among the Danish leaders who believed cooperation with the German occupation was the only solution to avoid worse fate for Denmark. An elitist, he believed that those who resisted German rule were acting upon their own personal ambitions instead of on behalf of Denmark. On 29 Aug 1943, he lost his real powers after Germany dissolved the Danish government.
