ww2dbaseHarald Öhquist trained and fought with the Royal Prussian 27th Jäger Battalion in 1915. Upon returning to Finland, he participated in the Finnish Civil War, leading the White Guard battalion in the Battle of Viipuri. In 1930, he was promoted to the rank of major general. During the Winter War against Russia, he was the commanding officer of the Finnish Army II Corps on the Karelian Isthmus. At the start of the Continuation War in which Finland and Axis powers invaded Soviet Union, Öhquist was the liaison officer with Germany. Between 1942 and 1944, he commanded units on the Karelian Isthmus. At the end of the war, he was the Supervisor of the Military Training. He resigned from the Finnish Army in 1951.
