Humber Light Reconnaissance Cars were iconic vehicles of the British reconnaissance units during WW2. Improvised out of the necessity after losing so much heavy equipment at the defeat in France, the new design was the result of marrying an armored hull with the chassis of a passenger sedan. Author Richard Doherty narrated the history of the development of the Humber LRC and described the evolution of the design through its three variants in detail, supported with detailed photographs. The second half of this 40-some page book was dedicated to the service history of these vehicles, which saw action in Tunisia, Italy, northwestern Europe, and the United Kingdom during WW2 and in the Middle East and Asia after the war; the operators of these vehicles were known to be on the front lines, daringly keeping contact with the enemy to feed troop movement intelligence back to base. While the principal users were the Reconnaissance Corp, the author also pointed out the trivia of the usage of one single vehicle by the Royal Navy and the few assigned to the RAF Regiment, which was tasked to defend airfields. This book was filled with a wealth of detailed drawings and photographs of the vehicle, which provided excellent visual. Humber Light Reconnaissance Car 1941-45 would be a great source for enthusiasts of this particular model as well as those interested in the history of British reconnaissance units during WW2.
