Langley (Langley-class) Operational Timeline

20 Mar 1922 The US Navy commissioned its first aircraft carrier, USS Langley.
17 Oct 1922 Lieutenant V. C. Griffin flying a Vought VE-7SF aircraft made the first take-off from an American aircraft carrier (USS Langley).
2 May 1924 A Douglas DT-2 torpedo bomber was launched from the carrier USS Langley, while the ship was at anchor in Pensacola Bay, Florida, United States.
22 Feb 1942 USS Langley and freighter Sea Witch departed Fremantle, Australia with 59 P-40 fighters aboard for Java, Dutch East Indies.
